6.2017 | Prosecutor Dismisses Davidson College Sexual Battery Case

Missy Owen represented a Davidson College student charged with sexual battery. An Assistant Mecklenburg District Attorney recently dismissed the misdemeanor case, citing a lack of evidence supporting the allegations of his campus accuser. Owen notes that her client “is grateful for the discretion used by the district attorney in dismissing the case.”

10.2013 | Missy Owen and Jake Sussman Speak on Criminal Justice Issues in Asheville

Missy Owen co-chaired the NC Advocates for Justice‘s annual fall seminar in Asheville, a four-day continuing legal education event that drew attorneys from across the state. As one of the invited faculty, Jake Sussman presented during the plenary session with Henderson Hill, Executive Director of the Federal Defenders of Western Carolina, about the Brian Nichols death penalty trial. Their presentation was titled, “Finding a Narrative in Challenging Cases: Lessons from the Brian Nichols Trial.”
