Lauren O. Newton

Lauren O. Newton has been advocating on behalf of injured individuals for more than 15 years. She practices personal injury, workers’ compensation, premises liability, and medical malpractice law with Tin, Fulton, Walker & Owen, PLLC. Her practice also includes cases involving sexual assault and police misconduct. She is licensed to practice in both North Carolina and South Carolina.

Lauren began her legal career as a defense attorney representing employers and insurance companies. That experience provides her with a unique perspective into the strategies and practices of insurance carriers and defense counsel, which she draws upon when negotiating with insurance companies and advocating for her injured clients.

Lauren is an experienced litigator who has achieved successful results for her clients in jury trials and on appeal. Her workers’ compensation appellate successes include representing clients before the North Carolina Court of Appeals in Myers v. Ben Mynatt Chevrolet Cadillac and Campbell v. Garda USA, Inc.

In addition to her litigation practice, Lauren is deeply involved in the legal profession and in advancing the practice of trial law. She is an active leader within the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ), where she serves on the Board of Governors and Executive Committee. She previously served two terms as Vice President of Legal Affairs and is the founder and former President of the NCAJ Women’s Caucus. She is a past chair of the Auto Torts & Premises Liability Section and serves as Legislative Co-Chair of the Professional Negligence Section.

Lauren has also held leadership positions with the American Association for Justice (AAJ), including service on its Board of Governors since 2014. Lauren has twice been honored with the prestigious Wiedemann & Wysocki Award in 2022 and 2025.

Lauren has been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers since 2017 and Best Lawyers since 2019.

Away from the courtroom, Lauren’s favorite role is being a mom to her three children. She treasures time with her family and is happiest when they are together—whether traveling somewhere new, sharing a meal and discovering a new favorite food, or simply heading out for a run with the family dog. She enjoys reading, working out, and all things Disney, and believes that almost every day is better with a good cup of coffee. For Lauren, some of life’s best moments are found in the everyday adventures, experiences, and memories she creates with her family.
