Do I really need a Charlotte lawyer for a divorce?

Simply put, yes, you do. Why? Because you don’t know what you don’t know. And I know you are smart enough to know that not everything you read on the internet is true. Without the advice of an experienced family law attorney, you will not know if the deal you are contemplating making with your former spouse is fair to you.

Do I really need a Charlotte lawyer?

Everyone you know who has been divorced, or knows someone who has been, will volunteer legal advice to you which may or may not be applicable to your situation. You may be surprised to hear that every case is different. I practice only family law day in and day out and I am constantly confronted with unique situations that require research. The concepts and nuances of equitable distribution, spousal support, child custody, and child support are probably much more complicated than you realize.

I tell my clients that it is easier and less expensive to do things the right way the first time, rather than to try and fix something that was done incorrectly because you did not see an attorney. Find an attorney you are comfortable with who clearly understands your goals and who will take the time to articulate the law and his/ her suggestions regarding how you go about resolving your issues. It will make your life easier in the long run.
